Treatment for depression can help reduce symptoms and shorten how long the depression lasts. Treatment can include getting psychotherapy and/or taking medications. A qualified mental health professional can help to determine what treatment is best for you. If you feel depressed, make an appointment to see a mental health professional as soon as you can. If you are reluctant to seek treatment, talk to a friend or loved one, any health care professional, a faith leader, or someone else you trust.
